Key-Pak® Blister Card Chosen for Commercial Pharma Application

Child-Resistance, Patient Compliance and Branding Opportunities Provide Complete Solution

Widely used in clinical trials since 2003, Key-Pak is now being used for a commercial pharmaceutical product for three different strengths of a solid oral dose steroid. The product is used to treat conditions such as arthritis, blood/hormone/immune system disorders, allergic reactions, certain skin and eye conditions, breathing problems, certain bowel disorders, and certain cancers.

Key-Pak was selected not only because of the generous space the package provides for branding, labeling and instructions but also because of the child-resistant features offered by the patented package. The drug is taken on a titration regimen with each morning and evening dose ranging anywhere from 1-3 tablets at a time. As such, patients greatly benefit and appreciate Key-Pak's unique "Zipper" feature, which allows the patient to remove a single tab that exposes the foil behind multiple blister cavities at one time. This helps improve the patient's understanding of how many tablets actually make up each scheduled dose in the regimen, and ensures that the patient is taking the appropriate dose each day and night.
